Corporate Vice President and General Counsel Northrop Grumman
Kathryn (Kathy) Simpson is corporate vice president and general counsel for Northrop Grumman, a technology company focused on global security and human discovery. In this role, Simpson is responsible for the oversight of all of Northrop Grumman’s legal matters.
Bio
Previously, Simpson served as vice president, associate general counsel and sector counsel for Northrop Grumman’s Mission System sector, a leading global provider of advanced solutions that strengthen information superiority for defense and intelligence customers. Earlier in her tenure at Northrop Grumman, she alsoserved as vice president and deputy general counsel, overseeing operations of the Law department and leading teams of lawyers providing support across the corporation on matters involving international transactions and trade compliance, environmental, health and safety, real estate, intellectual property, labor and employment, privacy and cyber issues. She served as a member of Northrop Grumman’s Corporate Compliance Council, the Export/Import Policy Council and the enterprise Crisis Management Team.
Simpson joined Northrop Grumman in 2012 from Raytheon (now RTX), where she served as vice president for corporate transactions and board governance within the Law department. She joined Raytheon in 1995 and held various positions of increasing responsibility, including general counsel of Raytheon International and general counsel of Raytheon Commercial Electronics. Prior to joining Raytheon, Simpson was an Attorney-Advisor at the United States International Trade Commission and practiced corporate and international transactional law at a major U.S. law firm.
Simpson earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in economics and French and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin.
